Have a Christmas Dessert
Have a Christmas Dessert at your house for your neighbors
Jen and I did this last year and could not believe how many people came to our house! Only one family we invited didn’t come and only because they had a prior engagement!
We invited people for a Christmas dessert open house from 6pm-8pm on a Thursday night. We found that people came and stayed for the whole time. Not only that, but many of them-even though they had lived down the street from one another for 30 years- had never met!
Planning is easy. Print out invitations from your computer on nice Christmas stationary (or festive paper) inviting them to your house. Give the time and date, as well as your phone number so they can RSVP.
Purchase or bake cookies and snacks to serve with hot chocolate and punch (it doesn’t need to be elaborate). You can talk to the whole group and thank them for coming and invite them to the church for December 24.
We had some Bibles that we offered if anyone wanted to take one on their way out. We have only done this once (last year), but the relationships that we formed with neighbors have lasted all year and we are planning on doing it again in a few weeks!
